***One more link before I get started - the math for making these babies..
I thought to myself what if you started with something other than two solid squares of fabric? So I started off with a simple two color strip - the red on the bottom and the blue on the top. It was not worth taking pictures of. I ended up with one solid red, one solid blue and one red/blue and one blue/red hst sections. For that result, I just had to go a bit further... I should also note that I am starting with 2 1/2" strips of fabric for my demo. This ended up with 4" finished pinwheels.
Note - you need to make 2 four patches to get those pinwheels because each one will result in 2 blue/red and 2 red/blue hst's if that makes sense :)
So on to experiment # 2...
I started off with a square in the middle with fabric all around.... The center is 2 1/2" and the blue is 1 1/2" strips.
And this is the end result... Kinda nifty... I was thinking there was too much of the blue going on so I decided to change it a little more.....
Again, the center is 2 1/2" and the side pieces are 1 1/2"...
So I had to take it a little further again. I have to admit that I'm not 100% positive I like the results but it was fun trying it out.
So I started with these squares....
