I just wanted to go on about the Juki. It sews beautifully and FAST. I love that I get twice as much done as I did when I was piecing on my Janome. Don't get me wrong.. the Janome is a nice machine but for straight stitches and speed? The Juki wins hands down.
It's a baby industrial machine... I think that makes sense. It can handle just about whatever you throw at it.
I'm working on some ornaments to hang on a Christmas tree my quilt guild is decorating for display in the library.
I'm using this pattern by V and Co...
The instructions say to use a hot glue gun... I thought to myself.. yeah. I don't need no stinking hot glue gun and tried out my Juki's big mouth. Yup. that is 18 layers of fabric that she is sewing through without blinking. Yup. Yet another reason to love my Juki. 18 layers! Woot!!
For the same tree I decided to make a tree skirt for it. I'm a bit worried that this tree skirt is going to be a wee bit too big to use but we'll see... I used the tree skirt pattern on the Sew Mama Sew blog. It is by Jacquie from Tallgrass Prairie Studio. It is really easy and quick which is what I wanted it to be since I'm really running out of time.
I'm juggling the next afghan design for my website and making a bunch of stuff for the library tree... all of which needs to be done by Dec 1... yeah... that's Sunday!!! I don't see how it will be physically possible to get it all done but we'll see....
Here's my progress so far. The top is done. I think I'm going to pillowcase turn it and then quilt it this way I don't have to deal with binding it.
